Granted very little of value is ever removed it is still very frustrating to see something that could have been useful go to waste. Having an authenticator won't kill you. In fact it can prevent the very thing that happened to our latest victim. The hackers that got Arieya put their own authenticator on her account making it doubly difficult for her to get it back from Blizzard.

So get one before the hackers do. Everyone that has an iPhone or iPod touch should get one, it's free. If you don't have an iphone, order one(US)(international) from the store, or you think 6.50 is too much(FYI they don't charge shipping on authenticators), get the mobile authenticator for your phone for 2 bucks or so. It will save you a massive headache. Trust me.

Plus you get probably the most animated pet in the game. The corehound pup never stops doing something fun, as long as you're not moving!

3.3 is here

That's right. The Fall of the Lich King had begun. New instances are fun, but hella painful if you can't stop your DPS fast enough as you'll probably kill yourself a few times*cough*. Haven't raided yet, but things were pretty unstable all of yesterday. Things seem smoother atm, but that could simply be a lower population situation, we'll know better how it is tonight.

Now if only my 10 man would get it's ass together....

Bugstomped!

Oh yeah. Several members of the guild got involved and we managed to strike deep into the heart of the instance. In fact we one shot beasts and Jaraxxus, and promptly downed Faction champs and the Twins in two tries. We then fell into Anub'arak's lair and tried a few times but couldn't quite get him down as it was getting quite late for a lot of out east coast memebers who needed sleep or soemthing. Suffice to say is was an awesome run all around.

Some of our guild made out like bandits, and luckily we had both tailoring robes drop and Arieya and Gwaendel were the only 450 tailors in the raid. So Arieya has Merlin's Robe and Gwaendel has Royal Mooshroud Robe.

Some of us got bored after and decided to roflstomp 10 man, and so we pretty much did, except where Kamiahru was tanking for the first time. The most challenging part was probably when Frosthowl decided to die right under Thrall and Garrosh, causing many issues with the faction champions. We still two shot them. Most of the other bosses proved less difficult. Except for where silly snobolds killed our healers twice because Dinal apparently doesn't stop DPSing the silly magmoth. Suffice to say it was still quite fun all around. Can't wait to do it all again.

If someone has some screenies, I might be able to post those too. So post 'em online and I'll add them in.

UOV spanks old content, makes baby Ragnaros cry

Last night in an explosion of vengeance a few members of UOV proceeded to stomp Molten Core, Onyxia and Karazhan in less than 3 hours. Highlights included ROFLStomping all boss in less than 2 minutes each, pulling every whelp in Onyxia's Lair at once, and bugging out Nightbane to the point where he was scared to land and wouldn't die for us until we promised him candy. Much nostalgic loot was had by all. Blizzard may not have done a lot of big stuff this year, but they sure made it fun to hunt them down.

Diablo 3's funnies for the day is the archivist class. I always wanted to play Deckard, and now I still can't, but you can check out what it would be like here. The videos of the spells are just awesome. And really, who doesn't want to have 15 billion responses for the terrible NPC dialogue for them to navigate through.

WoW's turn in North America is the new Dance Battle System. Not nearly as cool as the archivist, unfortunately. In europe they got Pimp-my-Mount, a lot more interesting fun and believeable 'cause now I actually wants it.

StarCraft 2 got a pretty good one. The Terra-Tron terran unit, a massive mech composed of a specific combination of buildings that just blows the mind.

All in all, not a bad day for blizzard's fun department. Can't wait to see the archivist level in Diablo 3 now.

Gwaendel Downs Malygos

After many, many failed attempts with 8 people, Gwaendel has finally managed to participate in a Malygos kill. So Congratulations are due to(L to R):
Butsuon, Tokico, Catrionsus, Beks, Gizzybee, Kamitsuchi, Marrs, Ellia, Gwaendel, Tizzie, Luci(absent) and Dinal(absent).Yay for us!

We also poked at Malygos, because Marrs can now. Aparently Kami pulled him. "Seriously, guys. It was totally Kami." It went as planned. We laughed and had fun and died. Marrs and the gang weren't planning on showing up until at least 8:30, but I had to get my goody bag on. I'd cover the contents of the bag, but other sites have already done so extensively. After picking up the bag(s, I bought a ticket for Osheon), I figured I'd best stand in line for the opening ceremonies. Turns out that was a smart idea, as we (Marrs, Gwaendel, Kamitsuchi, Osheon and I) ended up in about the 8th row center for opening ceremonies. Good stuff. We saw the WotLK cinematic on the big screen, and they announced the third class for Diablo 3: the Wizard. An evolution of the Sorceress from Diablo 2, this is the "make it go boom" class. Very impressive special effects and gameplay. Also, the beta key we received for being at Blizzcon will be for Starcraft 2.

We stayed for the Diablo 3 Character Design panel, which was pretty cool. I was kinda meh about D3 until this panel. I'm definitely picking it up now. The WoW class design panel was okay, but most of it was stuff I'd heard before on various websites, so we went to play Diablo 3. I can safely say it's excellent, and exceeded my expectations wildly. One of the big changes is that sockets are removeable/swappable without loss of the runes.

We also played WotLK for a little bit. We tried to go five-man Karazhan, but a collective brain fart ensued because none of us could open the door with our premade 80s! So we flew to Gruul's Lair where we wiped repeatedly because no one was specced for heals. I had a devilsaur!

Kami and Osh had their pictures taken with various female draenei, blood and night elves. All the store stuff is way overpriced and really not worth it. I got a free tshirt from AMD, and a yoyo from the company that makes the Blizzard Authenticator. Not a lot of people seemed all that geeked about Starcraft II even though they have a playable demo. *shrug*

I'm taking a break for a couple of hours and catching a nap because I've gotten less than 2 hours of sleep since yesterday morning. I'll post more later as I remember it

Blizzcon 2008!

Hey everyone, I'm posting this from my hotel room a few blocks away from the Anaheim Convention Center, where Blizzcon 2008 is happening! I drove all night from the Bay Area to here and I'm psyched! Today and tomorrow I'll try and post as much as I can about what I see, but since computers aren't allowed in the convention, I have to figure out a solution that involves my phone if I want to post live. It is here to obtain maximum viewability, and for posterity's sake.)

Welcome, one and all, to the new United Order of Virtue forums! We decided to re-structure the behind-the-scenes workings of the guild a little, and to encourage EVERYONE who participates in the guild to be a part of these discussion boards, we've made it so that the only way to get past "Squire" is for you to register an account here and let us know you're alive.

There are a few changes to the rules (Minor stuff, mostly, but still worth talking about) that I'll go over below.

Guild Description
This one's important - we are first and foremost a social guild. We were built as a way for readers of Real Life to come together to play WoW together. I know that's not exactly what things are these days, but the point is, we're a social guild. We're all here to have a good time. However, due to our fairly large ranks, we also have a good opportunity for handling large raids. As such, we are, technically, a Social Guild that Raids. We're not officially a raiding guild. No matter how far we get into high-level raids, we will never BE a raiding guild. You're not going to get the boot because you die to the cave-ins, (though you might get a stern talking-to by the raid leader) so don't sweat that.

Three Strikes
From now on, we are going to be instituting a three strikes rule. One of the things that needs fixing is that people need to understand that because this is a social guild, there are, in fact, reprocussions for antisocial behavior. This means that once you get three strikes, you're out. How do you get strikes? Any time a complaint is registered with the Lords against you, the Lord (or multiple Lords) it is brought to will review the complaint. If it is found to be valid (And generally if we are not present, we would ask for a screenshot to prove the validity of the claim) you will earn a strike. On your first strike, you will recieve a warning. (probably delivered to your PM box, though it's up to the Lord issuing the strike) On your second strike, you will be issued a second warning, and moved to "Time Out" (A rank where no interaction is allowed, and that only Lords can move you to) for one week. Upon recieving your third strike, you will be removed from the guild, along with any alts you may have in-guild. You do not come back from a third strike. A three-strike removal is permanent.

We should note that in order to recieve your third strike, it must be agreed upon by a majority of Lords. (Currently, that means four.) This means that if you are being removed from the guild, that decision was reached by not less than four of the leaders of the guild. I repeat - this decision is non-reversible.

Field Marshall
The Field Marshall will make sure that raids are set up, managed, overseen, and organized correctly. They will be the overseer on loot distribution and management. They are the final word when it comes to Raid decisions, and is someone we trust implicitly. Overruling the Field Marshall's decisions will not be done lightly (if ever) and will require a majority agreement from the Lords. They are also in charge of assigning Raid Captains for Raids they do not personally participate in. They're the last word on Raids. (Also of note - the Field Marshall will also be a Lord in rank. This will be reflected in the game, as there will not be a "Rank" for Field Marshall, but it's worth noting, regardless.)

Guild Ranks
We have re-structured the way the rankings in our guild will be ordered, and have clarified the duties of the "Management" ranks of Lord and Baron.

Lords
Lords are, in no uncertain terms, the leaders of the guild. This guild is not a one-leader guild. Taltos may be the High Lord, but his vote counts exactly the same as any other Lord, and leadership is shared equally amongst them. Lords work together to reach certain decisions, but any one of them is to be treated as though they carry sole responsibility for the guild. We are equal, and speak for each other. As such, any problems occurring in the guild are to be brought to a Lord immediately. We have a system whereby this information is shared amongst the Lords, so every Lord is informed of problems quickly and reasonably. Lords issue strikes, and a majority vote of Lords can issue a third strike, removing someone from the guild.

Barons
Barons are the eyes and ears of the Lords when they are not around. Using the new forums, Barons will be asked to report problems (anonymously from other Barons) so that Lords can deal with said problems. They are asked to help try to resolve problems in a diplomatic fashion when Lords are not available. Barons are also able to invite new members to the guild. Upon inviting a new member to the guild, they are not to be promoted above the rank of "Squire" until they have demonstrated that they have joined the forums and have been added to the "Active Member" user group.

Templar
A Templar is any active member who has achieved the level of 70. (This requirement will be changed to 80 when Wrath of the Lich King arrives)

Knight
A Knight is any active member between the levels of 10 and 69. (This requirement will be changed to 79 when Wrath of the Lich King arrives)

Squire
A Squire is any member who has signed up for the guild, but has not yet signed up for a membership on the forums AND been added to the Active member usergroup, and demonstrating that they can post. All members are reminded to use the name of your main character as your forum username.

Mime
A mime is someone who is unable to do just about anything in the guild. Barons can demote someone to Mime. It's generally used for humor value, but it can also be used by a Baron to resolve an issue.

Time Out
This is a special rank that only Lords can assign to someone. If you're in Time Out, it means you have either received two strikes, or are awaiting removal from the guild. It is used as a precursor to all-out kicking, and as such, Time Out is a rank you want to avoid at all costs.

First Post - Test

This is a test post to see if this is working.
